Nursing Week 2022: #WeAnswerTheCall

Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. For one week in May we celebrate and honor nurses. It is a time to recognize the hard and sometimes dangerous work RNs, nurse practitioners, nursing aids, and LPNs do year-round. This year, the theme for Canada’s National Nursing Week is #WeAnswerTheCall and was developed by CNA to showcase the many roles that nurses play in a patient's health-care journey.

On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. To no surprise, nurses around the world stepped up to answer the call. The call to do what they do best that no other person can do as well as they can. And that is, to take care of others with empathy and compassion. Without even knowing the risks they were facing, they still stepped up. They put their own health and safety on the line.

The hard work and dedication that nurses put in does not stop with the pandemic. They continue to work hard to care for the general population in clinics, facilities, hospitals, and beyond. They endure people at their worst and find it in themselves to not only provide the medical attention but also the compassion. They really are our everyday heroes. But, they are still human, just like you and I.

That is why, on May 12th people around the world are asked to take the time to recognize and honor nurses.

At Exquisicare, we have helped our nursing team remain emotionally engaged in their work by providing the support they deserve and advocating on their behalf in matters of access to compensation benefits, working conditions, and access to vaccines so they can continue to provide excellent care in a safe environment.

Exquisicare honours the nurses that came before us, the nurses on the front lines today, and the nurses of the future. Thank you is not enough. #WeAnswerTheCall. We always have and we always will. No matter what.
