The Story Behind ExquisiCare
ExquisiCare was founded by Dawn Harsch, a registered nurse with years of healthcare experience, who saw firsthand the struggles families face in finding truly compassionate care for their loved ones.
Through her work in healthcare, Dawn recognized a critical gap: While many facilities offer good medical care, few provide the warm, home-like environment that seniors deserve. She couldn’t see anywhere in the healthcare system where she would want to place her loved ones, should they require long-term care.
Her connection to both her parents and grandparents became a source of continued motivation, bringing her vision of finding a way to truly partner with families in caring for their elders to life.
In 2012, with the support of her family, Dawn decided to make a difference. She opened the first ExquisiCare small care home—a place where seniors are treated with the same love, dignity, and respect that they would receive in their own families.
With her background in nursing and leadership, Dawn set out to create a space that combined excellent care with a true sense of home.
The first ExquisiCare small care home was built to feel just like that—a 10-bedroom house in a peaceful, residential neighbourhood where seniors feel comfortable, connected, and cared for.
